Lights Are Now OFF for 2012 Season!

As far as I know, all displays shut down this past weekend.
At this point, even if you find some “On”, there is no guarantee they will still be On the next day.

All the Commercial Light Show shuttered their doors last night.

Unfortunately I do not have contact with all on the list…
Dec. 31 and Jan 1 are the last nights for many on the list.

Notice a few that normally turn off at year end are running their lights until first weekend in January. Wonder if this has to do with the Redskins going to the playoffs?

This is the last weekend for most of the Christmas Light displays!
Make sure to visit your favorites and consider dropping a card in their mailbox expressing how much your appreciate their efforts.
The display owners greatly enjoy receiving these and hearing how much their display has touched you and your family….
I’ll post what’s still On after Jan. 1, 2013 on New Years Day. ENJOY!!!

Dec. 25, 2012 - Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all who love bright Christmas Lights.

Christmas eve was a wash-out, literally, so I’ll be going out tonight to visit a few - probably around Vienna, Falls Church - may venture to Arlington.

Advice on a few:
#40 & #41 are reduced and unless you’re driving past them, I recommend not going out of your way.
#28 Rocky Run will probably have a shortened show based on an anticipated big traffic night.
Photos up for new #HM-FF 8505 Forest Rd, Annandale, VA.
#33 Wayfarer, substantially reduced, still has a few things up so I’ve added him (and photos) as Honorable Mention GG.

Plan your light visits for the rest of the week as most big displays only run through Dec. 31.

Just completed a major overhaul of the Suggested Route page.
More Major Road choices - Inclusion of Honorable Mentions and Yet to Visit.
Coming soon….modifying the Fairfax County map (which says 2011).
Hope this makes it easier to find the display you’re looking for….

Want to see the tree lighting and fireworks at the Gaylord.
Then on to view some lights, not sure where yet…

Dec. 21, 2012 - Weather and Light Status

Since we are all still here…..

Lights Lovers:
The National Weather Service is forecasting high winds for our area beginning today, Friday, December 21 and extending through Saturday, December 22. Some reports for Saturday’s forecast indicate wind gusts could reach 60 miles per hour.

This means that the displays with inflatables probably will not be On…
If I receive definitive word from any of the display owners, I will pass it along.

Silver Mustang, Black top…Crazy lady with camera and Santa hat. See if you can find me…

Recommend going out tonight because rain is predicted for Sunday and many of the biggest displays will be OFF. If you do go out Sunday, check the details of displays you plan to visit so you’re not disappointed. Sorry I don’t have contact for all….

Set you recorders, tonight The Learning Channel (TLC) has Christmas Light programs from 7pm to 11pm and then repeating from 11pm to 2am: More Crazy Christmas Lights, Invasion of the Christmas Lights 1 & 2, My Crazy Christmas Obsession.
